Using Widgets for User Input

When you are building automations to be used and re-used by other users, you can utilize widgets to let the user choose and input data into the automation.

Any data input can be turned into a widget that the user can then fill out in the Widget View of the automation instead of having to navigate the Builder View.

To turn a data input into a widget, click on the data socket and in the menu that opens up to the right, navigate to the WIDGET tab. Check the “Show this socket as widget” checkbox and configure what you’d like the user to see.

For string input data you can also add pre-defined choices instead of giving the user a freetext option.
